Walnut Kashmir

Most common of an ingredient in almost every cuisine and every beauty/health solution, Walnuts are a part of tree nut family. Dating back to 4th century A.D. when ancient Romans introduced this tree into many European Countries, Walnut eventually grew to become one of the most consumable products. The Englishmen produced it first on the soil of the Caspian Sea and hence it is known as the Persian Walnut or 'the English Walnut', kept on the name of its producers.

China currently is the largest producer of Walnut across the globe, producing 720,000 metric tons per year, United States falling as the second highest with 426,000 metric tons per year. India being the eight producer of Walnut among the others produces about 284,000 metric tons per year.

In india, walnut is majorly produced in Kashmir. Kashmir is responsible for the 90% produce of the total. India exports about 10% of its total produce, which in year 2012 was about 6,000 metric tons.
